How To Resolve Copyright Issue From Content and Videos

While generating an article or creating a video its important to make a copyright of that so that no one can steal that creation of yours and make it their own. After all, its your intellectual property why should one let it go on someone else's hands. Here in this post, i have defined some copyright issues, that can be cause while making contents for any article and video which is going to be publish on a website and can be harmful if you are stealing it from someone else's creation and what can be the possible solutions to overcome from copyright problems if you want to use or want to take an idea from others creation for your's one.

But before we get start, lets have a look at the short description on what COPYRIGHT© does exactly mean!!!!
Copyright, which is also denoted by a symbol ( © ) is a sign of a legal right of a country that gives a legal right to a person on creating his/her original work and gives him a legal right in order to use it or distribute it as per his rights/will.These rights frequently include reproduction, control over derivative works, distribution, public performance, and "moral rights" such as attribution.
For Example: An author of a book, Composer of music track or a photographer of a photograph.
Now, lets get back to the topic "How To Resolve Copyright Issue From Content and Videos" Lets discuss some copyright issues on making content and what can be their possible solutions first, and after that we will discuss the same on videos.

Copyright Issues on Content Creation and Their Possible Solutions:

Content creation is the most important thing the SEO, mainly because it helps Google, Bing, yahoo or other search engine's users to get the right, useful and in-depth solutions for their issues or queries for which they are searching for and that's why making it unique and useful for the readers only works.

Many bloggers and content writers think that, the content available on the websites is not copyrighted or they actually take this thing so lightly while writing any post on a topic but that's not true at all, because the electronic content available in different forms in the web say; E-books, photographs, websites or even slide-shares are subject to the same protection under the Copyright Act as Non-Digital or Analog works. If you are using copied content on your site than it can be a major problem for you until it has not been caught. Below is a list of how copyright content can effect your site in terms of Search Engine Optimization and what you can do to overcome from those issues:
First of all, a very basic thing to understand, the copyright laws are to help the authors to control their content which was created by them so that no one can use them for their personal benefits. But still, if you want to use that creation into your website or blog , then you have to take a written permission from that author in order fairly to use it. And, this is only best solution for that.
Secondly, the copyright issue can also come through the Plagiarism of content, (Plagiarism : is a technique where a content writer take the content and do some changes in that to make it his own creation). In this case if you got caught by the content original creator, then it can demand to remove that content from your site or can file a DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) to the search engines to remove your site from their search engines.
OK!! Soo..what to do in that situation??? Best Solutions are:-
  • You can simply develop a topic based on what has already been said and written by making sure there should me something original by you also. Though, you can use one or two sentences summary of an article or a longer passage from a book which is necessary for your summary or commentary on the work. All these things are a fair use of a third party material.
  • You can rely on "Experts" and "Authorities" for the opinions but make sure to take those opinions improve content upon that.
  • Improve your English to fit into a discourse community by building upon what you hear and read by making sure to use your own words and voice.
  • If you are using someone content of a third party site, then its always better to give the reference of that site like (a link back to their site on "Source" or "Reference") by doing that you can over come from the copyright issue, but make sure not do that in excess.

Copyright Issues on Video Uses and Their Possible Solutions:

As already discussed above that "copyright is a legal right of a country that gives a legal right to a person on creating his/her original work" the same thing applies on the video copyrights, sound recording and musical compositions, and on video games as well. Again a very basic thing to understand, while you purchase a CD/DVD from the market of any movie or songs it does not mean that the entire work of that disk is yours now, its just a "silver plated shiny round thing" which you have owned and all the inside material like videos, graphics, dialogues, songs all remains copyrighted to its owner. You have purchased it just to view, listen and enjoy!!!

The problems that you can face in a using a video without the permission of the owner even if you are taking that video from Youtube, you have to be very careful mainly because, mostly all the organizations including professional world or business world are paying more attention on what others are doing with their videos in order to re-creating them by others, publishing their videos on your websites for your benefits, this is a violation of video copyright law and if you caught by them, then it can be very costly for you to get into the legal battles and can be very time consuming as well.
But, uploading videos on Youtube is not a violation because, it is a source for the public from where they can watch online videos even if the same video is uploaded by different people as they are making that thing available for others users without making any changes or adding their stuffs.
Alright!! Lets see the best possible solutions to overcome from a video © issue:
  • Using third party videos can not be a violation if they been using for education purpose or non-commercial/non-profit purposes. This use comes under a fair use of a third party video.
  • If you are taking something from a third party video, then make sure not to take it full, just take a little from the original piece of work and it should not be the main part of that thing (Basically, upon which the whole video relies), also, the things which are not included in copyright violation and  you can use for your videos are creative ideas and the facts, using these are also a fair use.
  • Its more better to create your own videos and upload them online, this will not let you happen any kind of copyright issue or violation and by the way....making videos now-a-days is not a fighting with Lion Type Task. There are many free softwares available online through you can create an attractive video for your website very quickly.
  • If you are using a screenshot of a video then it does not generate a copyright issue because the copyright on the screenshot will still remains to its original creator.
Actually, fair use is something very complex thing in its own and no one can guarantee if your thoughts on the fair use are correct or not, the original holder of the creation can still sue you if you are using his/her material as a fair use, for that its always better to have an written agreement to use its intellectual property with his/her permission.
But in an overall, i will just say that use your own matter for both (The content creation and in Videos) if you do not want any dispute of copyright violation on you. In-fact, making your own creativity attracts more readers and visitors instead of using someone else matter.
